About Laura

I’m Laura Fletcher, the solopreneur behind Big Words by Laura. My career has spanned geography and industry, with a common thread: doing good. I live in the place I grew up, West Virginia, though I’ve also lived in Minnesota, Chicago, and Pittsburgh.

In my work, I combine my passions—writing, problem-solving, and creativity—with compassion. I enjoy working with clients that likewise have strong connections to their values and communities.

My working values

Simplicity

Straightforward speech, words, and messages make you stand out. That’s not paradoxical. When you use accessible language and design, you project honesty, authenticity, and patience. I love almost nothing more than helping my clients find clear ways to share important ideas.

Creativity

Even the most technical project can use a splash of creativity. Metaphors, images, and humor will make any business stand out. This may push you out of your comfort zone or feel risky. However, I believe that each of my clients has unique stories to tell, and I can guide you through the process.

Purpose

What are you doing that’s different than everyone else? To me, this is the root of purpose. You started your organization or your business to solve problems, to benefit humanity or change the world. Tap into that purpose and reflect it back in everything you do.

Empathy

Personal relationships, workplace dynamics, and social impact efforts all rely on empathy. It makes people feel heard and understood. Empathy can reveal connections between ideas that feel distant or even hostile to one another. It’s the cornerstone of cooperation, humility, and stronger communities.
